How Can This Service Help Me?

Individual therapy can offer a private safe space in which to explore difficult issues with a trained professional. It’s an opportunity to take a closer look any underlying issues and a space to work out ways to manage difficult feelings. Individual therapy can be process orientated; where you reflect upon past experience, and/or it can be goal focused; where you focus in on problematic behaviour, feelings or thinking styles.

CBT and Other Therapeutic Approaches

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

This approach is collaborative and problem focused. When using this approach the focus is placed upon your appraisal (judgment) of events, and the link between your thoughts, emotions and behaviours. We may also focus on any unhelpful beliefs and assumptions that you have about yourself and aim to help you challenge them. You will be encouraged to identify specific goals related to what you’d like to change

What We Do In Therapy Sessions

Together we decide which therapeutic approach would benefit you at different stages in your therapy. My role involves a collaboration with you, my aim is to enable you to develop a better understanding of yourself by reflecting upon your difficulties and encouraging you to consider and implement alternative responses to your difficulties.

The therapeutic relationship is based upon empathic, non-judgemental principles.

The therapy is tailored to your pace, and you will not be expected to explore issues that you choose not to.

Together we can think about how you relate to yourself and how this impacts upon your relationships with others.

Counselling is a space to explore any difficulties that arise in your interactions with others.

If any difficulties arise in your sessions you will be encouraged to reflect upon them with me.
